After spending some time in cool, foggy northern California this past week, I came home to some heat! The AC will be working overtime this weekend.
Everyone is doing well. Jen had an "off week" appointment at the Cancer Center today with the Nurse Practicioner, Becky. They discussed the side effects from the last treatment and did a quick blood test. As expected, her white blood cell count was very high due to her body's quick response to the Neupogen shots. Sooo...she'll stop at six shots this time rather than ten, which is a good thing. We haven't mentioned it, but Jen has been having headaches off and on daily and they aren't your typical dull ache in the front of the head. After some consultation with one of the other doctors (Dr. Pluenneke is out of town), they recommended that Jen visit with her GYN doctor regarding the birth control pills Jen she started about a month ago. Without ovaries, she obviously cannot get pregnant, but the pills are to give her a needed dose of hormones. The progesterone levels in these pills are very high and may be contributing to the strange headaches in the rear of her head. We'll continue to try to get to the bottom of this.
This weekend will be pretty uneventful, which hopefully means relaxing! I know a lot of people are starting their 4th of July vacations early so be safe, have fun, stay cool, and don't forget your sunscreen.
