This time last year Jen and I were counting down the days before our great trip to Hawaii. Thinking back, the prospect of the trip to Maui for Nathan and Melanie's wedding really provided a lot of energy for Jen during an exhausting stretch in her battle. Any sort of glimmer on the horizon for cancer patients in an indefinite, grueling routine of chemo has to be priceless.
I want to let you all know about a 5K run/walk coming up in early September. The race is called "Head for the Cure" and is held at Corporate Woods in Overland Park, KS. The race benefits the Head for the Cure Foundation which supports programs that research the cause and a cure for brain cancer. This Foundation also supports programs that help brain cancer patients and their families. I should mention that my father lost his mother, my grandmother, in 2005 to a very short battle with brain cancer. I plan on participating along with a friend that has recently suffered loss to this disease. If any of you are interested in participating as a team, let me know. Information on this foundation and the run can be found at www.headforthecure.org.
I'll leave you on this Monday with a picture of our girls. They are getting so big, but I don't feel any older!
They are truly beautiful. Have a grand week. dinah

The girls are getting so big, they are beautiful. I also lost my grandfather to brain cancer in 98. What a great cause! Thanks for keeping us all updated on what is going on. You are so strong.

Have a great 4th of July. Your girls are just gorgeous. I can't believe how big they are ! My family participates in a Race for the Cure here, to benefit breast cancer which my grandma died of in 89. You're doing such a wonderful job !

The new song is beautiful...haunting. It makes me ache for the pain your family feels. Wishing for peace and sunshine for you and your family...

I participated in Head for the Cure last year. It is a well-organized and fun event for the whole family! I would be glad to run it this year on a team and be supporting brain cancer victims and research efforts. Count me in!
I know several have posted in the past suugesting starting a 5K run/walk in honor of Jen and to raise funds for the Foundation. I would be another one interested in participating in that as well.

Thinking of you and your family - you're daily on my mind and in my prayers. I've placed a link to Jen's blog on my blog - but not quite as exquisitly as you know how. It's in the body of the post.
Have fun - all of you - it's a day of celebration - and we've so much for which to be thankful!
Your former (not old) music teacher.
